Keepings & Sleepings™ terms:

Keepings™

Keepings is money you will keep until you die.

It is money retained, protected and grown, for the rest of your life.

Keepings are NOT savings earmarked for future spending, nor are they a temporary or rainy-day fund. The intention is that they remain part of your financial foundation.

Sleepings™

Sleepings is money earned from your Keepings with near-zero effort.

It is the income generated by the wealth you have accumulated, rather than money that requires you to exchange your time and effort.

Slavings

Slavings are commitments that detract from your Keepings and Sleepings and force you to work.

They are financial commitments that reduce your freedom by creating obligations that require ongoing income, time or effort to maintain.

Freedom Score

Your Freedom Score (or Free Human Ratio - FHR) measures how close your Keepings are to making work optional.

It compares the sustainable annual income from your net assets with your annual expenses.

Freedom Score = (Net Assets × 4%) ÷ Annual Expenses

A Freedom Score of 100% means that a 4% annual withdrawal from your net assets is sufficient to cover your annual expenses. At that point, work becomes optional.
